Software Engineer – Perception Fully Remote Work From Home Role Part-time with potential to transition into a full-time role
(JOB ID: AIFPE2026)
Role
Our client is a character driven entertainment company in the comic and anime universe, with decades of storytelling across publishing, film, games, and digital media.
They are looking for a Software Engineer to develop the computer vision and sensor fusion systems powering a cutting edge, real time aerospace software platform based in the U.S.
In this role, you will work at the core of the perception pipeline, developing software that processes live sensor data, detects and tracks objects in real time, fuses multiple sensor inputs, and delivers reliable information to the operator interface. You'll work across computer vision, backend software, and hardware integration to build high-performance systems capable of operating under real-world conditions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop real-time computer vision pipelines for object detection, classification, and multi-object tracking • Build sensor fusion systems combining EO/IR, multispectral, and other sensor inputs into a unified operational picture • Design, train, evaluate, and optimize machine learning models for low-latency edge deployment • Optimize inference performance using techniques such as pruning, quantization, TensorRT, and custom kernels • Build and maintain datasets, synthetic data generation pipelines, labeling workflows, and continuous model retraining processes • Establish evaluation metrics and testing frameworks under operational conditions • Deliver processed perception data (position, velocity, identity, uncertainty) to operator interfaces and control systems • Develop backend services, APIs, and integration layers supporting the perception stack • Collaborate with hardware engineers on cameras, sensors, optics, and embedded systems • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time performance issues in production environments
Requirements:
• Strong experience building real-time computer vision and perception systems • Professional experience delivering object detection or multi-object tracking systems into production • Experience with sensor fusion and integrating multiple sensor streams • Strong software engineering skills across backend systems and software integration • Strong Python development skills plus proficiency in C++ or Rust • Experience working with real-time data and hardware-connected systems • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Highly Preferred:
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX, DeepStream, or GStreamer • Experience with thermal, infrared (IR), multispectral, or EO imaging systems • Experience fusing multimodal sensor data such as EO/IR, radar, or acoustic sensors • Experience generating synthetic datasets and sim-to-real machine learning workflows • NVIDIA Jetson deployment experience • Embedded Linux development and device integration (cameras, sensors, gimbals) • Experience using WebSockets or gRPC for real time communication • Previous experience in robotics, autonomy, aerospace, defense, or other safety critical computer vision applications • Personal robotics, embedded systems, or hardware projects are a strong plus • Previous experience as Computer Vision Engineer, Perception Engineer, Sensor Fusion Engineer or Robotics Software Engineer • Previous experience with building production computer vision systems for robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, drones, industrial automation, or advanced imaging systems will be highly preferred.
Location Remote
Availability Part-time (20 hours per week) Must be available during U.S. Pacific Time business hours *While this role is structured to begin at 20 hours per week, there is flexibility to offer an immediate or expedited full-time position to a candidate who demonstrates exceptional technical expertise
Compensation 15-25 (Depending on skillsets)
