The PR-approved story

Hiring LATAM (or well, hiring.lat), was born out of a need to have more transparent job listings for people that are from Latin America (Latinoamerica!). A lot of times, companies and jobseekers alike, tend to underestimate and gloss over the talent that comes from places such as Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and many other countries, or just see the region as a place to do short term offshoring/near shoring operations, while sacrificing the potential to form long term, professional relationships with the jobseekers from. At hiring.lat, we believe that the Latino jobseeker community should have a safe-space to browse awesome job listings which include relocation or remote work under companies that are looking to build distributed teams; We believe in the power of visibility and our mission is two-fold: To raise awareness in the employers market about the potential LATAM offers, and, to offer a centralized platform for Latino job seekers to browse employment opportunities exclusively for them.

We share the vision of becoming the number #1 employment go-to platform that empowers the entire Latino community and gives them worthy, enriching professional connections to the rest of the world =)

The (more brutally) honest story, from our founder

In December 2024, my friend and I both received a rejection letter from a company, which offered relocation support (regardless of your current location) or, the possibility to work remotely if your country was located in a specific time zone (with the possibility of negotiating). What caught my eye about this rejection, was the fact that according to them, I (or my friend) wasn't getting rejected due to my skills, but rather, because of the time zone I was currently located in. Granted, this could've simply been another automated response, but that's when I started becoming aware of how difficult it was, for talented individuals (much more talented than myself) in LATAM, to find either remote job opportunities, or job opportunities with the possibility of relocation. Of course, LinkedIn exists, and so do a lot of job listing sites that may offer relocation or remote work, with a big asterisk***.

For Jobseekers

When these job listings were posted in these sites, it turns out that they were quite misleading: First of all, they almost always disqualified you automatically if you were from LATAM. At first I thought this was limited to job listings from the EU, but the same pattern started springing up in all the other supposedly global job opportunities, from Asia, to Africa, to Europe. Traditional job listing sites such as LinkedIn, in my opinion, have also become very ineffective for Latino jobseekers to look for new, exclusive work opportunities outside of the usual outsourcing gigs that flood the platform. What if an aspiring software engineer wanted to take the next big step and look for Co-founders / early startup jobs in order to build the next (Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Google, <insert Big Tech Company here>...)? What if a transitioning programmer in LATAM wanted to branch into management positions? What if some qualified individual wants to relocate (regardless of motive) to a different part of the world and requires a job at their dream location? The answer that awaits jobseekers in LATAM is a resounding Sorry, that's impossible from traditional job listing sites.

For Companies and Recruiters

With hiring.lat, my goal is to make this whole international job recruitment and job seeking experience smoother, less stressful and more rewarding for both parties involved. That's right, I've talked a lot about the jobseeker's perspective (which is kind of, the whole purpose of hiring.lat), but without companies or recruiters needs being addressed, the whole idea will fall flat on its face. The current process to create a job listing is pretty straight-forward, to the point that no account creation, company page creation or extra complicated steps are needed from your end*, in order to create job listings exclusive to countries in LATAM, at a reasonable price. Just fill out the New Job form, submit the checkout information via Stripe, and you're done!
