Space Inch is a leading software development company in the Information Technology and Services industry, based in the US. At Space Inch, we prioritize alignment with our clients and team, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs. We are committed to delivering exceptional work while supporting the personal and professional growth of our team members.
We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer who is strong in .NET and Angular, but equally comfortable adapting across technologies and stacks when the project calls for it.
You’ll join our engineering team on a large-scale modernization project for a leading US healthcare platform, helping transform complex legacy systems using modern .NET, Angular, and AI-assisted development workflows. Strong engineering fundamentals are the key. We're looking for someone who cares deeply about code quality and can contribute to architecture, infrastructure, backend services, and overall system design.
AI experience is an important part of the role, but we’re not simply looking for someone who “uses AI.” We want an engineer who knows how to make AI genuinely useful in their workflow from providing the right context and prompting effectively to validating AI-generated output, identifying gaps, and using AI to navigate and improve complex codebases.
This is a highly autonomous role where you’ll collaborate with an international team, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute architectural ideas that shape the modernization effort.
At Space Inch, we prioritize alignment with our clients and team, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs. We are committed to delivering exceptional work while supporting the personal and professional growth of our team members.
We don't just "accept" AI; we encourage its usage to enhance productivity and code quality. If you’re a Senior Engineer, AI-proficient, with a proven track record of picking up new languages quickly, you might be a great fit to our team. We value senior-level architectural thinking and problem-solving over rigid adherence to a specific syntax.
Global Footprint: Our team is around 80 people, primarily based in Croatia, but also with members in South America, the EU, and the US; the product team mostly being in the US, and engineering in Croatia and Brazil
Remote-First: We are remote-first, but occasional travel may be required, e.g. for our annual company retreat, or meeting the client
Long-Term Vision: We work on end-to-end projects with a long-term vision
True Work-Life Balance: We strongly support work-life balance for our team members, even though we work in different time zones
Requirements
Experience: 7+ years in professional software development, with 5+ years specifically focused on .NET and Angular
Backend & Data: Strong general backend fundamentals and deep hands-on expertise with MS SQL Server
Cloud & Containers: Experience with Docker and AWS environments (ECS, S3)
AI Tooling Fluency: Advanced daily use of AI tools - prompting, validating AI-generated output, and managing AI coding agents (working experience with Claude AI is a plus)
Architecture: Solid understanding of software architecture, database management, and backend microservice interactions
DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, security best practices (web tokens, OAuth), Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
Bonus points for:
Experience modernizing legacy codebases (.NET Framework, Visual Basic)
Exposure to React
Architect and Build: Design, develop, and deploy high-quality applications and microservices, owning the backend architecture and coding standards
Collaborate: Work closely with other developers, product managers and cross-functional teams (including client teams) to translate requirements into elegant technical solutions
System Modernization: Leverage modern .NET stacks and AI tools to refactor and modernize legacy components
Infrastructure & Ops: Oversee database management and backend service interactions within cloud environments
Quality First: Write clean, maintainable code, conduct thorough code reviews, mentor other developers and share your knowledge
Optimize: Debug and fine-tune existing systems to ensure maximum performance, responsiveness, and reliability
Modernizing legacy modules into a modern, microservice-based .NET ecosystem using AI acceleration
Architecting resilient backend systems for high-concurrency healthcare workflows
Balancing rapid feature delivery with architectural quality and system performance
Ensuring security compliance, data accessibility, and high system availability
Proactive, solutions-driven mindset
Strong attention to detail and code quality
Comfortable making technical decisions independently
Passion for learning and improving
Ownership mentality, i. e. you care about the end product
You thrive in collaborative yet autonomous environments
You enjoy shaping backend architecture and best practices
You view AI as an essential force multiplier in your daily coding workflow
You value quality and thoughtful delivery over rushing
You expect constant supervision or micromanagement
You only want to build brand-new features from scratch and dislike improving, refactoring, or scaling existing systems
You view your role strictly as "writing code to spec" without engaging in product discussions or caring about the end-user impact
You do not actively use AI tools in your day-to-day software development workflow
Benefits
Real influence on technical decisions and project direction
Professional development support
Work-life balance, transparency, and long-term relationships that aren’t just for show
Compensations: 4.500,00 – 6.000/monthly for B2B engagement, based on experience and skills.
