SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: Mondays - Fridays, 8:00am - 5:00pm PST
Location: LATAM (Remote)
Compensation: USD 3,200 - 4,200 /month (based on experience)

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing reconciliation processes, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead process improvements while mentoring team members.
The Senior Accountant supports the financial health of the company by managing financial reporting, overseeing general ledger activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This role enhances financial processes and provides leadership to junior accounting staff, contributing to the organization’s success and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties and investment entities.
General Ledger: Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in compliance with US GAAP.
Cash Management: Oversee daily cash reporting and post all non-AP cash transactions. Upload Positive Pay files and review rejected transactions for approval or reporting.
Reconciliation: Lead complex account reconciliations, including bank accounts, balance sheets, intercompany accounts, and property-related accounts.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and variance analyses. Collaborate with department heads to ensure accurate and timely data. Upload budgets into OSA.
Property Accounting: Oversee property accounting activities, including revenue recognition, expense allocations, capital expenditures, and tenant accounting.
Month-end, Year-end Close: Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and financial reports.
Accounting Processes and Internal Controls: Assist in developing and maintaining robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Audit: Coordinate and lead internal and external audit processes, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems, including the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and other technology tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, data analysis, and decision-making across the accounting department.
Leadership:Mentor and provide oversight of junior accounting staff, providing direction, training, and support to enhance team performance.
Minimum Qualifications - Must have:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, or investment firms. Experience leading/supervising a team of Accountants.
Proficiency in real estate accounting software (such as Yardi, MRI, or RealPage), AI
tools (such as Claude and ChatGPT), and advanced Excel skills.
Advanced understanding of US GAAP, related party, partnership, and fund accounting.
Nice to have:
Certifications: CPA or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
Big 4 accounting firm experience is a plus.
