Junior Shopify Developer

This role is open to candidates based in LATAM, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Please note that as this role supports U.S.-based clients, candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with the client’s time zone.

Our client is a growing ecommerce and omni-channel consumer brand dedicated to delivering premium products through an exceptional online shopping experience. As the business continues to expand its ecommerce capabilities, they are seeking a Shopify Developer to lead storefront development, optimize site performance, implement AI-driven improvements, and support ongoing marketing initiatives across the Shopify ecosystem.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Shopify Developer will be responsible for owning end-to-end development across the company's Shopify storefront, including theme customization, landing page development, integrations, performance optimization, and technical troubleshooting. The Shopify Developer will also optimize the storefront for AI-driven search experiences, implement technical SEO enhancements, and champion the adoption of AI tools that improve workflows across marketing, ecommerce, and operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining ecommerce development, conversion optimization, AI innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SHOPIFY STOREFRONT DEVELOPMENT & OWNERSHIP

• Own development across the Shopify storefront, including themes, templates, and custom functionality.

• Build and update landing pages, collection pages, product detail pages (PDPs), and promotional pages.

• Customize Shopify themes to support business and marketing initiatives.

• Maintain storefront performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and overall technical health.

ECOMMERCE SUPPORT & INTEGRATIONS

• Support ecommerce campaign launches and website updates.

• Implement and maintain Shopify apps, third-party integrations, and analytics tools.

• Troubleshoot technical issues, bugs, and storefront errors.

• Ensure ecommerce functionality remains reliable and scalable.

USER EXPERIENCE & CONVERSION OPTIMIZATION

• Improve website functionality, performance, and user experience.

• Optimize storefront pages for conversion and usability.

• Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to execute ecommerce initiatives.

• Support ongoing testing and optimization efforts.

AI SEARCH & LLM OPTIMIZATION

• Optimize the storefront for visibility across AI-powered search platforms, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Claude.

• Implement structured data, schema markup, llms.txt, and other technical SEO enhancements.

• Collaborate with marketing to improve content for traditional SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO/AEO).

• Monitor AI-generated search visibility and recommend technical improvements.

AI TOOLS & TEAM ENABLEMENT

• Research and evaluate emerging AI tools for development, marketing, and operations.

• Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency.

• Train internal stakeholders on AI tools and best practices.

• Develop documentation and AI-powered workflows that improve team productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

• Strong experience developing within Shopify environments.

• Experience customizing Shopify themes and storefront functionality.

• Experience building landing pages, collection pages, product pages, and promotional pages.

• Experience implementing Shopify apps and third-party integrations.

• Experience supporting ecommerce marketing initiatives.

• Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to professional or personal workflows.

• Experience optimizing ecommerce websites for user experience and conversion.

• Experience with technical SEO, structured data, or AI search optimization is preferred.

SKILLS

• Proficiency with Shopify.

• Proficiency with Liquid.

• Proficiency with HTML.

• Proficiency with CSS.

• Proficiency with JavaScript.

• Experience implementing Shopify Apps.

• Understanding of ecommerce UX and conversion-focused development.

• Working knowledge of technical SEO, structured data, schema markup, and llms.txt.

• Familiarity with GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).

• Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity.

• Experience with Cursor.

• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
