Description
We're looking for a Forward Deployment Engineer for a client that is building essential infrastructure for AI systems to reliably extract and structure web data. Firecrawl's core product enables developers to convert URLs into LLM-ready markdown or structured data via a single API call. In a short time, they have achieved significant ARR growth and strong developer adoption, positioning themselves as a fast-scaling AI infrastructure startup.
Project Summary
You'll work directly with customers to get Firecrawl integrated, running, and scaling inside their products. That means writing real code, debugging real systems, and turning customer needs into shipped solutions — fast. This is not a support role. It's a technical ownership role with a customer face.
Position Overview
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges in live environments and working closely with customers. The Forward Deployment Engineer owns technical delivery for priority accounts, from initial integration through long-term optimization.
You will operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, diagnose issues quickly, and deliver pragmatic solutions that unblock customers. Success in this role requires strong systems fundamentals, clear communication skills, and a bias toward action.
Requirements
5+ years of experience building and shipping production systems (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Strong TypeScript/Node.js engineer. You write clean, production-quality code and you're fast. You've built integrations with external APIs and you understand what makes them brittle.
Strong fundamentals in APIs, distributed systems, debugging, and infrastructure
Experience troubleshooting real-world integration issues in production environments
Experienced with payments and cloud platforms.
Solid on backend and data fundamentals. You can design a system, model a schema, and reason about data at scale.
You understand the common auth patterns — OAuth, API keys, JWTs
Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineer, SRE, DevRel, or infrastructure-focused engineering
Profiles that tend to be a strong match include integration or platform engineers, hands-on solutions engineers, and early-stage engineers from API-first startups who have owned technical work directly tied to customers.
Work directly with customers to deploy, customize, and troubleshoot Firecrawl in production environments
Lead technical implementation for priority accounts from integration to optimization
Debug complex real-world issues involving APIs, crawling systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure constraints
Build reusable solutions, templates, and deployment playbooks based on recurring customer needs
Translate customer feedback into actionable insights for product and engineering teams
Collaborate closely with core engineers to improve reliability, performance, and usability
Define and document best practices for implementing Firecrawl at scale
Own customer issues end-to-end, ensuring successful outcomes without heavy process dependencies
Benefits
Competitive compensation in USD, above market average
Fully remote work.
Flexible schedule and collaborative work environment.
