About CodeRoad

CodeRoad is a fast-moving technology company delivering AI-driven capabilities and Velocity as a Service to clients across the globe. We operate at the intersection of nearshore delivery and modern engineering, helping our customers move faster and build better. Our culture is anchored in five core values: Excellence, Passion, Connection, People First, and Innovation, and we are looking for a leader who will champion those values as we scale.

The Role

The Director, People & Culture will lead the People function at CodeRoad. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, this leader will own the full employee and contractor lifecycle across our LATAM and U.S. footprint: from talent strategy and HR operations to compliance, total rewards, learning, and culture. The Director not only manages the P&C team, but serves as a direct People Business Partner to our Vice President of Delivery & Engineering. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and scaled People functions in a professional services or nearshore delivery environment, and who is energized by working in an AI-forward business.

The Director, People Business Partner will lead the People function at CodeRoad, reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team. This role owns the full employee and contractor lifecycle across our LATAM and U.S. operations, including talent strategy, HR operations, compliance, total rewards, learning, and culture. The role also serves as a direct People Business Partner to the Vice President of Delivery & Engineering.

This is a hands-on, strategic leadership role that goes beyond traditional HR. The ideal candidate has experience scaling People functions in professional services, nearshore delivery, or fast-paced growth environments, and is energized by operating in an AI-forward business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic People Leadership

  • Executive partnership. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, VP of Delivery and Engineering, and broader Executive Team on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership development, and culture.

  • Roadmap ownership. Lead the multi-year People & Culture strategy aligned with CodeRoad’s growth and AI-driven transformation. This is a builder role responsible for designing and implementing scalable structures, systems, and operating models to support rapid growth and organizational maturity.

  • Team leadership. Lead, coach, and grow the People & Culture team, in a fast-changing environment, raising execution standards and building team capability to scale with the business.

Workforce & Talent

  • Full-time and contract workforce. Own talent strategy and operations across both full-time employees and a sizable contract/nearshore delivery workforce, ensuring consistent experience, governance, and quality across engagement models. Design a scalable workforce structure that incorporates both human talent and AI-enabled agents to support delivery capacity, customer success and flexibility.

  • Performance & development. Drive performance management, career frameworks, succession planning, and leadership development.

HR Operations, Compliance & Total Rewards

  • Multi-country compliance. Lead HR compliance across LATAM jurisdictions and the United States, partnering with legal and finance on labor law, contractor classification, immigration, and policy.

  • U.S. HR compliance. Bring working knowledge of U.S. employment law and best practices (FLSA, EEO, ADA, FMLA, multi-state considerations) and apply it to our cross-border workforce.

  • Total rewards. Own global compensation philosophy, salary bandings, benefit structures, and recognition programs that are competitive and equitable across geographies.

  • Systems & analytics. Operate and continuously improve our People tech stack: BambooHR (HRIS), Coursera (learning), and Jira (ticketing/HR service delivery), with a clear point of view on how AI can elevate the employee experience.

Culture, Engagement & Communications

  • Values in action. Translate our core values: Excellence, Passion, Connection, People First, and Innovation, into rituals, programs, and decisions that employees and contractors feel every day.

  • Engagement. Design and run listening, recognition, and engagement programs across a distributed, multilingual workforce.

  • Internal communications. Partner with leadership on change communications, town halls, and key moments that shape culture.

What You Bring

Required

  • Based in Latin America, with full professional fluency in Spanish and English.

  • 10+ years of progressive HR / People & Culture experience, with at least 5+ years leading a team.

  • Proven success leading the People function in a professional services, IT services, or technology consulting environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing both full-time employees and a contract/contingent workforce at scale.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. HR compliance (federal and multi-state) alongside LATAM labor frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience optimizing an HRIS (BambooHR or comparable), an LMS (Coursera or comparable), and ticketing tools (Jira or comparable) for HR service delivery.

  • Track record of building culture and engagement in a distributed, multicultural, and multilingual environment.

  • Executive presence, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence at the C-suite level.

  • Strong focus on process optimization, digitization, and automation. Challenges legacy HR practices and reduces manual work through smart use of technology, data, and modern tools, with a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting M&A activity: due diligence, integration planning, and post-close people strategy.

  • Background in nearshore delivery models serving U.S. clients.

  • Hands-on experience deploying AI-powered tools across the HR stack (recruiting, learning, employee experience, analytics).

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a zest for continuous learning

Culture Fit — Living Our Values

We are looking for a leader whose default behaviors mirror our five core values. Specifically, we expect this person to:

  • Excellence. Take ownership, sweat the details, and continuously raise the bar for the People function.

  • Passion. Bring energy and purpose to the work, and inspire the same in others.

  • Connection. Build authentic relationships across teams, geographies, and levels; lead with empathy and curiosity.

  • People First. Treat every employee and contractor with dignity and respect, and design programs that prove it.
