Maxana is hiring a Data Engineer on behalf of a fast-growing digital health platform in the U.S. You'll join their data team as a full-time contractor, building the pipelines and infrastructure that power analytics, product features, and clinical/operational decision-making. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in Latin America, working U.S.-overlapping hours.
What you'll do:
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines (batch and streaming)
Develop and optimize data models in a modern cloud data warehouse
Build robust ELT/ETL workflows and manage orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, or similar)
Partner with analytics, product, and engineering teams to deliver clean, trusted datasets
Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting across pipelines
Handle sensitive data responsibly and help uphold privacy and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA-aligned practices)
Contribute to the evolution of the platform's overall data architecture
Requirements
4+ years of professional data engineering experience
Expert-level SQL and strong Python skills
Hands-on experience with a modern cloud data stack (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift; dbt; Airflow or similar orchestration)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
A track record of building reliable, well-documented pipelines at scale
Strong written and spoken English (daily collaboration with a U.S.-based team)
Based in Latin America with reliable ability to work U.S.-overlapping hours
Nice to have:
Experience in healthcare, health tech, or other regulated data environments
Familiarity with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub)
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD for data workflows
Exposure to ML pipelines or feature engineering
