We love technology, and we enjoy what we do. We are always looking for innovation and continuous improvement. At Enroute, we are looking for a Data Engineer with strong database migration expertise to support the migration of enterprise Oracle environments into Azure SQL.
This role will focus on analyzing existing Oracle databases, migrating schemas and data structures, converting PL/SQL logic into Azure SQL-compatible solutions, and ensuring migrated environments are optimized, scalable, and reliable.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server/Azure SQL, Transact-SQL, database migrations, and performance optimization across enterprise environments.
Requirements
5+ years of professional experience working with relational databases and data engineering initiatives
Strong experience with SQL Server and/or Azure SQL environments
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle databases, including SQL and PL/SQL
Experience migrating schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and related database objects
Ability to analyze and convert Oracle SQL / PL-SQL logic into Azure SQL-compatible equivalents
Strong understanding of relational database design principles
Experience with query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
Strong experience troubleshooting database compatibility and migration issues
Experience performing data profiling, source-to-target mapping, and migration analysis
Strong experience with data validation, reconciliation, and migration testing
Experience identifying and resolving data quality and consistency issues
Ability to support production migration and post-migration stabilization activities
Advanced Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
Strong SQL development experience across Oracle and Microsoft SQL environments
Experience optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and database objects
Strong understanding of scalability, maintainability, and database performance best practices
Experience working with Azure SQL environments
Experience collaborating with ETL and Azure Data Factory (ADF) teams
Strong documentation and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with QA, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders
Analyze existing Oracle schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and related database objects
Support the migration of database structures and data from Oracle to Azure SQL
Identify compatibility gaps between Oracle and Azure SQL and propose remediation approaches
Convert or refactor Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, functions, and views into Azure SQL-compatible equivalents
Support source-to-target mapping, data profiling, and migration analysis
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks between Oracle and Azure SQL
Optimize migrated database objects for performance, scalability, and maintainability
Collaborate with ETL / ADF engineers to ensure pipelines align with the target data model
Document migration findings, conversion decisions, validation results, and technical recommendations
Support testing, defect resolution, production migration, and post-migration stabilization activities
Troubleshoot performance, compatibility, and data quality issues throughout the migration lifecycle
Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Exposure to cloud-native data architectures
Experience with automated migration tools and schema conversion tools
Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for database deployments
Experience supporting enterprise-scale modernization initiatives
Knowledge of data governance and database security best practices
Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments
