This person will identify timely stories, connect them to Mexico’s political, social, and cultural calendar, and shape them into narratives that can enter the national conversation at the right moment. Through strategic social media and relationship-building with journalists, influencers, new media, and decision-makers, this role will help expand Change.org http://Change.org Mexico’s reach, strengthen its presence in the public agenda, and build connections across a broader media and political ecosystem, including conservative and center-right spaces. You will report to our Communications Manager in Mexico.

Change.org http://Change.org is the world’s largest platform for democracy.

At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy globally is at an all-time high, we’re investing heavily in using AI to build the most powerful tools in the world to give people greater voice, while bringing people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions.

Our core petitions platform, used by more than 100 million people annually, is growing rapidly - and we are rebuilding it from the ground-up using new tools to turn anyone into a powerful civic leader on the issues they care about. Soon we will launch a new platform to identify the >80% of issues that most people agree on, locally and nationally, and to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to advocate for those common-ground solutions.

To realize this vision, we’re expanding the most talented team in the world at the intersection of technology and social impact - all focused every day on building healthier democracies globally.

Key outcomes:

  • Increase Change.org http://Change.org Mexico’s digital presence by identifying timely petitions, creating platform-native content, monitoring trends, and testing formats, hooks and narratives that grow reach, engagement, followers, and campaign visibility.

  • Expand Change.org http://Change.org Mexico’s network of influence by building relationships with influencers, journalists, new media, civic actors, and decision-makers, with emphasis on conservative and center-right spaces while preserving platform neutrality.

  • Strengthen Change.org http://Change.org Mexico’s brand awareness and relevance by identifying strong story angles, connecting petitions to Mexico’s social and political agenda, and helping the platform show up in timely public conversations.

  • Support campaign amplification across online, offline, and email channels by executing media pitches, influencer outreach, social pushes, email moments, petition deliveries, interviews, press conferences, and public-facing activations.

  • Expand organizational learning and AI adoption by using AI to improve research, content, monitoring, audience mapping, and reporting, while sharing success cases, lessons, tests, media wins, and failures with local and global teams.

The most important core competencies for the role are:

  • Strong track record creating high-performing content, managing social channels, collaborating with influencers, spotting trends, and using listening tools to identify real-time opportunities.

  • Demonstrated experience in cross-spectrum outreach, engaging conservative and center-right audiences, media, creators, civic actors, or decision-makers through credible relationships and tailored messaging.

  • Strong understanding of Mexico’s political and social calendar, with the ability to anticipate relevant public moments, track political debates, identify culturally significant dates, and connect petitions to timely conversations, media opportunities, and audience-specific narratives.

  • Proven ability to pitch journalists, build press lists, identify relevant outlets, draft press materials, and turn petition stories into timely angles for Mexican media.

  • Practical adoption of AI in communications, using AI tools to strengthen research, monitoring, content development, audience mapping, reporting, and workflow efficiency while maintaining editorial judgment and quality control.

  • Native Spanish speaker with excellent written and oral communication skills, strong copywriting ability, and the capacity to write culturally relevant content for social media, press, email, and campaign moments. B2 English is mandatory.

Target experience:

  • 5+ years experience in Mexico in communications, public affairs, journalism, digital campaigning, media, or political communications.

  • 3+ years hands-on experience in social media and/or media relations, with a track record creating content, managing channels, pitching media, or shaping public stories.

  • Experience with photo and video editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms. Proven use of AI tools in communications workflows is a plus.

  • Experience building relationships with journalists, influencers, creators, civic actors, decision-makers, or political figures to amplify campaigns or public causes.

  • Native Spanish speaker with strong writing and communication skills across social, press, email, and campaigns. B2 English or higher required.
