About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an Accounting Manager to oversee financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, and core accounting operations across complex client accounts.

This is a hands-on accounting role, not a basic bookkeeping or data-entry position. We’re looking for someone with strong accrual accounting and GAAP expertise who can confidently manage multi-entity, multi-location, and multi-segment accounting environments.

What You’ll Own

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Execute accurate and timely month-end close processes

• Prepare financial statements and reports aligned with client requirements

• Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready workpapers

• Ensure reporting complies with applicable accounting standards

• Review financial data for discrepancies and resolve issues proactively

• Maintain consistent reporting timelines across multiple accounts and entities

Payroll & Employee Setup

• Process payroll accurately using Gusto or similar payroll platforms

• Set up and maintain employees within payroll systems

• Ensure payroll information and documentation remain accurate

• Support payroll-related compliance requirements

• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies before processing deadlines

Core Accounting Operations

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Maintain accurate general ledger records

• Manage accounting activity across multiple entities, locations, or business segments

• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations

• Ensure financial transactions are properly classified and recorded

• Maintain organized and accurate accounting systems

Sales Tax & Compliance

• Calculate and file U.S. state sales tax

• Ensure filings are completed accurately and on time

• Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings

• Track compliance deadlines and reporting requirements

• Help maintain clean, audit-ready financial records

Reporting, Analysis & Forecasting

• Build and maintain customized financial reports

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies

• Prepare financial insights for leadership decision-making

• Use Excel and reporting tools to organize and visualize financial information

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Review existing accounting processes and workflows

• Document accounting procedures and controls

• Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements

• Standardize accounting processes across clients and systems

• Improve reporting, reconciliation, and close workflows

• Help build scalable accounting processes as the organization grows

Client & Internal Coordination

• Communicate regularly with leadership regarding accounting priorities and deliverables

• Support client-facing accounting communication when required

• Maintain alignment on reporting timelines and expectations

• Proactively communicate issues, discrepancies, and potential delays

• Ensure accounting deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule

Required Experience & Skills

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience

• Strong hands-on experience with accrual accounting and GAAP financial reporting

• Experience managing multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-segment accounting

• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, with QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise experience also relevant

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:

• XLOOKUP

• INDEX/MATCH

• Pivot Tables

• Data Tables

• Hands-on payroll processing experience using Gusto or a similar platform

• Experience calculating and filing U.S. state sales tax

• Strong understanding of:

• General ledger accounting

• Accounts payable

• Accounts receivable

• Reconciliations

• Financial reporting

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• Ability to work independently during U.S. business hours

Nice to Have

• Experience with NetSuite

• Familiarity with Paylocity or ADP

• Experience using Ramp or Bill.com

• Exposure to time-tracking platforms such as Clockify

• Background working within an outsourced accounting firm

• Experience supporting multiple clients or complex accounting environments

• Experience improving accounting workflows, controls, or reporting processes

What a Typical Day Looks Like

You may begin by reviewing reconciliations, financial statements, and outstanding month-end close items across multiple entities.

Throughout the day, you could process or review payroll, manage AP and AR activity, prepare journal entries, update financial reports, review sales tax obligations, and investigate accounting discrepancies.

You’ll also coordinate with leadership and clients regarding reporting requirements, support budgeting and forecasting, and improve accounting workflows where opportunities exist.

In short: you ensure complex accounting operations remain accurate, compliant, organized, and delivered on time.
