This is part of a broader plan to strengthen an equitable culture in various aspects. Location & Remote Work for technology and remote-first roles
Our technology team operates under a "remote-first" model, which means we work from home and can live anywhere in Brazil. We also offer the option of working from our São Paulo offices or partner coworking spaces, up to twice a week.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will act as a premier technical anchor and individual contributor for our engineering organization. Operating with a line-level and organization-wide scope of impact, you will own the technical strategy and architectural roadmap of complex, large-scale products or platforms that are critical to the company's long-term vision.
We believe that technology scales execution, but senior talent scales judgment. This is an advanced leadership role that requires navigating cross-team technical architecture, managing technical alignment with stakeholders, and handling organizational and product dynamics across multiple structures.
Key Responsibilities (What you will do):
Architectural direction & strategy: Set the core architectural direction for complex platform scopes. Identify and generate new org-wide technical opportunities, defining the technical strategy and roadmap required to execute them.
Simplifying complex challenges: Break down vague, unstructured, and highly ambiguous problems into execution-ready technical scope. Create simple, highly maintainable systems with clear documentation and well-defined interfaces that can be easily operated even by junior engineers.
Engineering excellence & trade-off ownership: Drive the technical quality for larger or complex team scopes by establishing engineering standards and best practices. Act as a technical advisor, defining policies and proactively mitigating obstacles for software, product, and data quality across multiple domains.
Team influence & mentorship: Act as an absolute reference in technical leadership within Engineering. Provide senior technical assessments to management to inform project strategy and composition. Actively mentor senior engineers (including B6 and B7 levels), accelerating their technical growth without relying on formal authority.
Guard the tech bar: Act as a lead interviewer for senior and principal technical roles, setting the bar during our hiring, sourcing, and internal allocation processes.
Position & technical challenges:
Because we are scaling multiple strategic fronts simultaneously, we run a unified hiring process for our Staff positions. Instead of locking you into a single team from day one, we focus on assessing your leadership, systemic thinking, and architectural skills first.
At the final stage of the process, we will present you with 2 or 3 of our most critical technical challenges across different products and platforms. Together, we will choose the allocation that best aligns your expertise and career aspirations with our highest-impact business needs.
Regardless of the final allocation, your day-to-day will deeply involve solving systemic issues where multiple services cannot be understood in isolation. You will step into environments requiring high-concurrency solutions, complex data consistency, and the decoupling of mission-critical systems.
What we are looking for (Requirements):
10+ years of experience in software development, with a consolidated background leading the delivery of high-volume, high-concurrency, and mission-critical distributed systems.
Deep knowledge of modern software architecture paradigms, distributed data consistency, fault tolerance, and system optimization.
Proven ability to analyze and articulate engineering trade-offs concretely (e.g., simplicity vs. flexibility, velocity vs. reliability, build vs. buy).
Demonstrated capability to remove barriers to collaboration, conduct difficult structural conversations smoothly, build strategic roadmaps, and foster an inclusive engineering culture.
Experience designing systems that cross team boundaries and remain maintainable as teams and products scale.
Fluency in Portuguese and excellent English skills (verbal and written) are mandatory, as we use English daily for code, architecture documentation, and global alignment.
