Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant Job Type: Full-Time / Remote (Independent Contractor) Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM CT Compensation: $2,000 – $2,500 USD/month (based on experience) About the Company We are a dynamic, rapidly growing tax and accounting firm specializing in e-commerce clients. We primarily support Shopify-based businesses, delivering bookkeeping, financial reporting, and sales tax support. Our team is committed to providing accurate, efficient, and client-focused accounting services in a fast-paced startup environment. Job Overview We are looking for a Staff Accountant with strong bookkeeping fundamentals and client-facing experience to support our growing portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who can independently manage multiple client accounts, handle day-to-day accounting tasks, and communicate effectively with clients. Key Responsibilities - Manage 4–5 client accounts independently with minimal supervision - Perform core bookkeeping tasks, including: - Bank and account reconciliations - Journal entries and financial record maintenance - Prepare and support financial reports and filings (sales tax experience is a plus) - Communicate directly with clients, responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner - Assist with client onboarding and ongoing account maintenance - Work within systems such as Shopify and internal tools - Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data across accounts - Support process improvements and documentation when needed - Collaborate with senior team members on projects and workflow execution Qualifications Required: - 2 + years of bookkeeping or accounting experience - Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial processes - Experience managing multiple clients or accounts simultaneously - Excellent written and verbal communication skills (client-facing role) - High attention to detail and strong organizational skills - Ability to work independently in a remote environment Preferred: - Experience with e-commerce accounting (Shopify is a plus) - Familiarity with sales tax processes or exposure to tools like Avalara - Experience working with the U.S.-based clients - Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets Professional Attributes - Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision - Strong sense of ownership and accountability - Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy - Adaptable and comfortable in a startup environment - Willingness to learn and grow within the role
